Red Guardian a.k.a. Alexei Shostakov will soon appear in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure.
Red Guardian at Avengers Campus
Red Guardian will make his debut on May 2, the same day “Thunderbolts*” releases in theaters. Disneyland Resort released the following video showing the face character hailing different Avengers. He will appear for a limited time.
Avengers Campus has seen most of its live entertainment cut or pared down but characters continue to roam and appear for meet and greets. The land will soon double in size with two new rides — the 3D multiverse-jumping Avengers: Infinity Defense and the Iron Man-inspired Stark Flight Lab.
David Harbour portrays Red Guardian in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He first appeared in “Black Widow” (2021) and returns for “Thunderbolts*” as part of a team of misfit Marvel “heroes” including one of his adoptive daughters, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh). The cast also includes Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov / Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr / Ghost, Lewis Pullman as Bob, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
“Thunderbolts*” is the last film of Phase Five of the MCU and the 36th film overall. It’s directed by Jake Schreier from a screenplay by Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo. Watch the final trailer below.
Phase Six gets underway this summer with the release of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” on July 25. It will be followed by “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” in 2026, and then “Avengers: Secret Wars” in 2027.
