Universal Helios Grand Hotel has opened its doors ahead of Annual Passholder Previews for Epic Universe, the newest theme park at Universal Orlando Resort. We were there on opening day to tour a Park View 2 Queen Beds room.
Universal Helios Grand Hotel Room Tour

Upon entering the room, a round hallway lamp illuminates four-pointed star shapes on the ceiling. A long, gold-framed mirror hangs on the wall on your left, ready for you to do one last outfit check before heading to the portals.

Moving into the hallway, a set of double doors on the right opens to a closet. Though they look like they’re painted black on camera, the doors are actually navy blue.

Inside, you’ll find extra bedding, clothes hangers, an iron and ironing board, a luggage rack, and a safe with a keypad lock. We find the closet to be a little small, but it’ll do the job.

On the left side of the hallway is the bathroom, complete with gold and marble-accented vanity and sink, toilet, and shower. The toilet and shower can be closed off from the vanity area thanks to a set of pocket doors.

One design aspect we thought was neat was the cutouts in the mirror to accommodate the light fixtures. A makeup mirror is also attached to the right wall that can extend outward.
Bath towels are stored in the left vanity drawers, as well as a hair dryer. There’s also plenty of storage in the remaining right drawers.

Unfortunately, no toilet art here to speak of, though there is a rack of hand towels hanging above the toilet. A towel hook hangs on the opposite wall.
The shower itself has a sort of barn door look to its glass doors, and is a walk-in with a small seat at the back left. It’s quite large.

There’s only one shower head here, and the valve to turn it on is on the opposite end of the shower. Inside are Julien Farel: The Science of Hair hand and body wash, vitamin conditioner, and vitamin shampoo, if you don’t bring your own.

The flooring in the bathroom and hallway is large white tile, which transitions into carpeting in the bedroom area.

This room type features two queen-sized beds, separated by a single bedside table and an interesting vertical light fixture.

The bedding is mostly neutral tones, with all the color saved for the long, padded headboard attached to the wall behind both beds. The bedding is slightly fuzzy to the touch. There is a small plug near the foot of the bed on this side.

Here’s a closer look at the headboard, which features abstract art in shades of blue, white, red, and navy. Small reading lights are attached to the headboard both sides of each bed.

The bedside table features two plugs on either side, as well as USB-A and USB-C ports for charging electronic devices. An iPad sits here as well, with an app that allows you to make bookings, order room service, access guest media, and get information about Universal Orlando Resort.

There’s a nice large TV on the wall, right in the center of both beds’ view. We’d guess it’s about 55 inches.

This room does have the capability to be an adjoining room, with the door on the right here leading to the other room, if you prefer to book those.

The dresser opposite the beds and beneath the TV is also home to the in-room coffee machine, TV remote, water bottles (for a fee), and an ice bucket with two glasses. The four drawers here are empty and ready to store your clothes or other items.

Inside the rightmost cabinet is the room’s minifridge.

A small desk is off to the left side of the dresser beneath the TV. A plug on the wall offers two outlets, as well as USB-A and USB-C ports. The in-room phone is also located here. 3D artwork just above the desk illustrates what appears to be the phases of the moon over a galaxy background.

A small table with one chair sits by the window, which overlooks the Cosmos Fountain and the rest of Epic Universe. A floor lamp is also on this side of the room.

You do get an excellent view of the park from here, as well as a view of Apollo, the god of the sun, who oversees the park during the day.

It is worth noting that the hotel opened early to accommodate Annual Passholder previews of Epic Universe. Throughout the hotel, you can tell that Team Members are flurrying about trying to put the finishing touches on everything. Luckily, our room was substantially completed.
