Construction walls were removed from the first room of the Emporium in Magic Kingdom, revealing a new double set of cash registers. Construction walls are now up around the check-out counter in the center room.

The walls previously blocked the back part of this room, close to the Harmony Barber Shop. The biggest difference in the area is the addition of another row of cash registers and the removal of built-in shelves.
A series of small shelving units creates the queue for check-out. They have a lighter brown wood finish than the previous units. After passing these shelves, guests turn into an aisle between two rows of registers.
Like other refurbished rooms of the Emporium, this space received new tile flooring. The light-colored square and dark diamond-shaped tiles are the old flooring. New to the check-out space are brown squares with white diamond-shaped tiles. Separating the old flooring and the new is a row of green tiles arranged in diamond shapes against a white background with beige and black borders.
In the center of the floor is a tile “carpet” pattern of beige, blue, and white tiles. The old check-out counters along the back wall were demolished, and new ones were constructed in their place. The second check-out row is a few feet away, facing the first. Both are made of dark wood with light marble countertops, similar to the old style.
They have decorative 3D elements on the front panels and metal grates in the podiums around the registers. The built-in shelves on the wall behind the check-out counters have not changed, except for the addition of new “The Emporium” signage. The lettering is black cursive within a circle, set against white panels. The shelves display exclusive Starbucks tumblers.
The wall on the right previously had built-in shelves displaying merchandise. These have been removed, clearing space for guests waiting in line. There are now two mirrors hanging on the wall.
The fresh wallpaper is the same design as the previous wallpaper in this area. It’s a red and beige arabesque pattern. The stained glass “Register” ceiling lamp is a new addition to this area, but there have always been such lights in this room of the Emporium.
Another one of the stained glass lamps hangs a few yards away at the opposite end of the register row. Previously, there was only one of these lamps over these check-out counters.
There also used to be built-in shelves on the opposite wall, between the two doors. These have been removed in favor of just the arabesque wallpaper.
Disney may add some additional decorations to this wall later.
These changes are all in line with other refurbishment work in the Emporium, which shows Disney hoping to streamline navigation and add more check-out locations.
There are now construction walls blocking the back half of the Emporium’s center room. This space previously held a large circular check-out counter.
We would guess that the check-out counter and some of the surrounding built-in shelves will be removed in favor of smaller, straighter counters. This room previously had little space for a check-out queue.
