The decking around the newest DVC Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort appears to be complete as crews start on ground work around the cabins.

DVC Cabins Construction

Single-story cabins with wooden decks, crafted by expert cabin contractors, nestled among trees behind a black fence.

In our last update, the painting of the cabin exteriors had been completed as construction began on deck installation. The decking is now complete and connects the tan cabin to the rusty red cabin. A completed sidewalk pathway is leading to the stairs and up to the decks.

Several trees have been planted in the area surrounding the cabins, which will eventually add more shade for the guests to enjoy while sitting on the cabin decks. The ground, however, is still dirt, so there is some landscaping work waiting to be completed in this area.

A worker in a neon vest kneels by a wooden deck, assisting with cabin construction amid trees and greenery on a sunny day.

Crew members were placing finishing touches on the area around the deck, with tools and some wood planks still sitting nearby. There also appears to be an accessible ramp leading up to the tan cabin.

Cabin builders in safety vests work outside a building surrounded by trees, with equipment and materials nearby.

The new DVC cabins are stand-alone buildings that can sleep up to six adults. The new cabins include a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio. Disney first announced in 2023 that the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort would be replaced with new ones, some of which opened on July 1, 2024.

  1. I am a frequent Fort Wilderness guest. My family and I have stayed in the old cabins 20+ times. We have stayed in the campsites with our RV. We know this resort well. This is the worst thing they could have done to the Fort. We first stayed in the new cabins in February 2025. Immediately we are floored with how non wilderness like they are. They do not fit with the theme of the campground. With only one or two upgrades compared to the previous cabins examples include bigger bathroom and full stove and oven. The rest of the experience was a let down. There is only seating for 4 while boasting it sleeps 6. The deck is smaller and uninviting. Then there is the DVC part of it. No extra amenities like washer and dryer. No private pool or recreation area. I’m not sure what DVC members are getting with their purchase other than extremely high maintenance fees. This is another fail for Disney. If they would only ask their guests we will gladly guide them into how to enhance an experience rather than ruin it.
