Epic Universe Grand Opening Day Medallions and Other Items Being Resold

Universal Epic Universe officially celebrated its grand opening on May 22, 2025. To mark the special occasion, the park released a special line of grand opening day merchandise. Universal also revealed or restocked several items that are unique to Epic Universe, even though they are not necessarily opening day exclusives.

However, it now appears several of these items are being resold on websites such as eBay for multiple times their original price. Some of the resold items were only available to members of the media or sold out on the media preview day before May 22. There are also items being mislabeled as grand opening exclusive when they are actually restocked regular park items.

For the sake of this post, all of the original seller information has been blurred from the images.

One of the most expensive items currently listed on eBay includes this Epic Universe grand opening medallion. The commemorative coin, which was a limited edition included with the other items in the grand opening collection, was never actually available to regular park guests. According to reports from Team Members at Epic Universe, the medallion was released during the media preview celebration and quickly sold out that evening, before the park’s actual opening on May 22.

The grand opening medallion was shown in a display case at Various Emporia in Celestial Park, as seen in media images taken by invited guests. However, even the display for the medallion was removed when the park opened on May 22. The medallions are now being sold for prices ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 each.

A second item being resold online for extreme prices is the Epic Universe Chronos tower. This model of the park’s entrance was never available to regular guests and was not sold in stores. Instead, Universal shipped these models to select members of the media and influencers prior to the opening of Epic Universe.

The model includes small circular icons for each of the lands in Epic Universe that were also shipped to the media members for free over a period of time. Some of the eBay listings include the individual medallions, while others are trying to sell them separately. The Chronos models are currently being sold at prices ranging from $2,000 all the way up to $8,000.

Finally, some resellers are marking regular Epic Universe merchandise as grand opening day items, when they are really only popular items that happened to be restocked for the opening.

One example is the Dark Universe soundtrack vinyl record. The record initially sold out during some of the Team Member and family preview dates, but Team Members were informing guests that a larger stock of the record was specifically being held for May 22. Since the album was restocked, multiple listings have now appeared online listing the vinyl as an “opening day” item, or with similar language. The vinyl is expected to be a regular item that, while popular, will be regularly restocked at Epic Universe.

One other example of a restocked item is the new second-generation interactive wand design for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. While Universal previously released several different colors of the second-generation wands at the existing parks in Orlando, this yellow and white version is inspired by the Phoenix Arch and will be exclusive to Epic Universe.

The wand was not sold during the Team Member previews and only became available during the first full day of operation on May 22 — it is, again, not a grand opening exclusive item. Like the other interactive wands, this design is expected to be regularly restocked.
