As work continues on constructing the newest addition to the Walt Disney World hotel lineup, the main building for the Disney Lakeshore Lodge has now received a new roof overhang structure.
New Roof Overhang at Lakeshore Lodge
Looking at the Disney Lakeshore Lodge construction from the water, the building section furthest to the right continues to grow taller. This section was the slowest to rise when construction first began, and it has lagged behind the taller structures on the left. It now appears to be reaching four stories tall.
The lower stories on this side are starting to receive the metal beams for early wall framing, though there are still lots of gaps. It will likely be a while longer before we see some of the exterior wall panels added to this half of the building.
Moving over to the left corner of the building, the existing wall panels have now been colored yellow. All of these exterior panels were previously plain white with the construction company wordmarks running across the front.
Zooming in closer to the left side of this image, we can also see the first metal structure being erected on the ground. Previous rumors suggested the concrete poured on this side would form the basis of some outdoor cabanas. That may still be the case, but this appears to be a much larger permanent structure with a triangular-shaped roof.
Several crew members were seen walking on an extended tower of scaffolding on the right corner of this building. While there was already scaffolding present on this side, it now appears to extend further down the side of the wall.
New roofing overhangs are also being added to the tops of buildings that have reached the designed number of floors. Permits imply the building will be a total of 10 stories, but this particular building appears to be six or seven stories tall.
Compared with the concept art below, the overhangs are in the very early stages of construction. These will be varied in size and length, with some covering room balconies.
The concept art released by Disney back when the project had a different name showed glass walls, rock formations, and a nestled rooftop. The roofing overhangs joined the entryway to form a cohesive look for the resort’s exterior. However, no new art of the building has been shared since the project resumed, so it is entirely possible this art no longer shows what Disney has in mind.
More of the exterior work is visible above the construction walls surrounding Fort Wilderness. The construction wall scrim is printed with trees and foliage to better fit in with the area’s theming.
Disney Lakeshore Lodge is expected to open sometime in 2027, though no official date has been announced yet. Disney Lakeshore Lodge replaces the previous plans in this area for Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge, but no new concept art has been shared since the project’s name changed.
