Howdy! Today was another very hot but beautiful day in Magic Kingdom. I found new Mini Mix-Its featuring Lady and the Tramp, new merchandise for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and had fun just existing in the park.

Good Morning from Magic Kingdom

Crowds walk down Main Street toward Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom on a sunny day.

Good morning from an already hot Magic Kingdom! Today was a little cooler than yesterday, but without a doubt, it is hotter than it normally is for this time of year. That being said, if you are visiting the parks soon, please prepare and stay hydrated. It’s brutal.

New Mini Mix-Its featuring Lady and the Tramp

Four images: Magic Kingdom’s Emporium exterior, shop interior, and two plush toys of animals in food costumes held by hand.

I started my day with an escape to the air-conditioned Emporium. I was disappointed to see that the wall remains in place for the ongoing refurbishments throughout the shop. You can check out the latest update on our website.

I was shocked to find the new Lady and Tramp Mini Mix-Its. I love that their hats are Italian food-themed. I love that this movie is getting so much attention for its 70th Anniversary.

Crystal Arts Lonely Gus Gus

Left: Crystal Arts store sign at Magic Kingdom. Right: Small jeweled mouse figurine with a $1,149 price tag on display.

I popped into Crystal Arts before escaping into Tomorrowland. I love the feel of this shop; the wood floors, the glass displays, and the antique vibe. I was genuinely sad when I saw that someone had purchased the small Jaque Swarovski figure but left Gus Gus behind. Hopefully, they are just waiting for their next paycheck to come and get him.

Castle Views

Three photos: a castle fit for Disney World by a pond, a heron on a rock, and a lush waterway framed by rocks and plants.

Sometimes, even in the blistering heat, you have to stop and enjoy the views. There was a sweet bird perched on a rock. The Disney Ducks were also living their best lives. Even with all the rain we had last night, the moat was at a standstill. Usually, there’s a small waterfall here, but not today.

Sonny Eclipse Moment

If you aren’t familiar with Sonny Eclipse of Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, here is your introduction. If you are familiar, then I have nothing to explain because you are already playing the video and enjoying the sweet tunes of an intergalactic artist.

I, like so many, have loved Sonny since I was a toddler. I think he is one of the coolest, and very ’90s, additions to any quick service ever. I wish Galaxy’s Edge had more of this, especially in Oga’s Cantina.

Peoplemover Views

Collage: Construction near a monorail, a sci-fi ride, and a control monitor labeled with Magic Kingdom attractions.

After being totally distracted by an animatronic I’ve seen only a couple of dozen times, I rode the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover. You get some incredible views of the park from the Peoplemover. Before we even started, I was tickled to see the tower televisions. Specifically, I was happy to see the Stitch label, even if the attraction had been closed for years.

The Cool Ship has been entirely leveled. I’m curious to see what they rebuild in its place. Meanwhile, Astro Orbiter is slowly being rebuilt. The pieces in place already are so vibrant and clean compared to what they were.

Sweetums Magnet is Now Available

Collage of Disney World merchandise: a custom MagicBand display, souvenir magnets, and a colorful Magic Kingdom sticker.

Every week there is a new Muppets magnet released to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Muppets. I can’t believe the closure of MuppetVision 3D is just days away at this point. I have a friend who has been religiously collecting these each week. If you do the math, 70 magnets at $15 each is well over $1,000. What a cool collection, though.

King Triton Update

A wooden King Triton statue with a chipped thumb stands near Ariel’s at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom attraction.

The King Triton saga continues. The statue is back to where he was a few weeks ago because people can’t behave. This is absolutely people picking at his fingernail, which is just bonkers. How could someone be that bored in Disney World?

This brings me to say Ariel’s statue remains gorgeous at all times. Any ideas why? Because you can’t touch her. I am just about ready for Disney to put a small fence around King Triton.

More Bunting!

Collage of Western-style buildings and a riverboat at Disney World, all adorned with red, white, and blue bunting.

I don’t remember there being bunting in Liberty Square or Frontierland last year. I know that the bunting wasn’t on the Liberty Belle for years, according to the Cast who worked on the riverboat. I love it when the Magic Kingdom is dressed for holidays, so I am not complaining about the extra bunting.

Train Rides and Finds

Collage of construction scenes, a green train, workers on scaffolding, and trees with a Magic Kingdom castle tower behind.

I took a train ride to see what was going on at Big Thunder Mountain. It looks like the track is complete, and the crew is working on very specific projects throughout the attraction. I noticed crews working with paint and concrete mostly. As always, be sure to stay tuned to our website to stay the most up-to-date.

Next time you are on the train, be sure to peep to your right when you are near the Fantasyland stop. You’ll be able to see the back of the Beast’s castle from “Beauty and the Beast.” Kinda shoddy for sightlines, but cool for us theme park nerds. This has been pretty visible since the fireworks set fire to the woods a few years back.

New Merchandise for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Splash Mountain merchandise at Magic Kingdom with mouse ears, a "Make a Splash" tee, and Disney World themed mugs on display.

There is a new collection of Tiana Bayou Adventure merchandise for both adults and kids. For a full breakdown, you can visit our website, but the ears are precious. The bow is removable, and they light up like there are fireflies in the front. I love that the new collection focuses on the critters on the ride.

I only have one request for the next launch: BRING ME LARI MERCHANDISE NOW! Lari is the armadillo in the ride who loves junk. Honestly, I could write a whole article covering Lari, but I’ll stay focused. You can visit our website for his backstory.

Hovering Carpets

Collage of Magic Kingdom with people walking, palm trees, whimsical buildings, and a genie lamp-shaped ride.

The Flying Carpets were stuck in a hovering position. That’s my quirky way of saying the ride was broken and wasn’t open to guests. You know a ride is super delayed when there isn’t any costumed cast around and maintenance is present.

Express Monorail

Left: Entrance to Magic Kingdom Express Monorail; Right: Green and white train at station platform in Disney World.

I enjoy the walk from Magic Kingdom to the Transportation and Ticket Center, but after racing through Magic Kingdom in the heat, it would be irresponsible to try to make that walk — and the Express Monorail is faster anyway.

Tram Update

Light blue airport tow tractor with amber light, parked outdoors near greenery at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

There is rarely any news involving the parking lots at Walt Disney World, and the trams are part of that. Here we are, though, with a HUGE tram update. The parking Cast Members usually spiel to guests boarding the tram, but now there is an automated spiel that lasts a whole minute. It’s pretty long, and the Cast still spiel more specific details.

I hope you enjoyed our brief day in Magic Kingdom. I didn’t have any particular moment today that stood out, but it was nice just to be in the park today. There were a ton of graduates taking pictures in their gowns and hats. It was precious.
