Bambi, Powerline, The Black Cauldron, Gargoyles, and set rotation? From new franchises to new formats, Ravensburger shared several pieces of new information about their Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game during their May 6 announcements.
Disney Lorcana Next Chapter

The May 6 livestream was hosted by Greg Tito, the new communications director for Disney Lorcana. Tito is part of the recent reorganizing that included hiring several new specialists to help with communication, tournament organization, marketing, and brand management. Tito’s addition to the already established creative team at Disney Lorcana signals a bright future for the game and the community.

The energy was high throughout the stream, which included several major announcements. The information was later shared in a public press release from Ravensburger.
Disney Lorcana Set 8: “Reign of Jafar” will be released at stores on June 6, 2025, with the pre-release beginning on May 30, 2025. Unsurprisingly, Jafar will be the central villain. The set will introduce more new dual-ink cards and add gold foil to the Enchanted cards. But, perhaps the biggest news about Set 8 is the inclusion of characters from Disney’s classic “Bambi.” Cards for Bambi, Thumper, and Flower were all revealed in the release.
Later in June, Disney Lorcana’s “Season 1” will end with the first World Championship on June 28 and 29. The World Championship is taking place at Walt Disney World. When this World Championship was first teased at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, it was presented as a public event open to competitors and attendees. Many fans anticipated a large-scale event like the North American Continental Championship at the Disneyland Resort last January.

As much as Ravensburger wanted to pull that off, they pivoted to make this next championship an intimate VIP event for the 28 competitors only. Many in the community are deeply saddened by this news, but hope that the next World Championship will be much bigger. The World Championship event will still be streamed on Twitch and include promotional giveaways. The championship will also mark the official end of Season 1. More information about Season 2 will be announced at the event, including dates for the next regional Disney Lorcana Challenges.
The year 2025 saw Disney Lorcana reaching North America, Europe, Australia, Japan, and China. New regions will be joining this September, including Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. Japan and China will also host Disney Lorcana Challenges starting in late 2025.
Set 9: “Fabled” will be released on September 5, 2025, with the pre-release beginning on August 29, 2025. Notably, “Fabled” will include two new card rarities called Epic and Iconic. Iconic cards are extremely rare with only two appearing in each set, while Epic cards will appear more often than Enchanted cards and feature special artwork and foil treatments. With these new rarities, the the updated hierarchy will be: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, Legendary, Epic, Enchanted, and Iconic.
In addition to new rarities, this set will introduce new characters including Powerline, Max, and Goofy from “A Goofy Movie.”

Another major change starting with Set 9 will be the beginning of set rotation.
What is set rotation? The first four sets of Disney Lorcana will be rotated out of core constructed play. This will solve some problems and create some other challenges. One problem it will solve for new players is accessibility to the earlier sets, since older cards are not as easily available. But, longtime players shouldn’t panic. Many staples from the first four sets will be reprinted in “Fabled.” Over half of Set 9 will be reprints from Sets 1 through 4. An annual rotation cycle will then begin on a regular basis. Every fall season, the 4 oldest sets rotate out of play.
“To keep the competitive game thriving, rotating out older cards to encourage new strategies and fresh deck designs is a really important part of the next chapter. But because we know there are cards in those early sets that are important to a lot of fans’ deck-building strategies, and we know not everybody got the cards they wanted the first year, we’re re-printing some cards from those first sets in Fabled. Including Enchanted versions of some fan favorites!”
Ryan Miller, Brand Manager and Co-Designer of Disney Lorcana TCG at Ravensburger
But what will I do with all of my older cards? This dilemma will introduce a new format called Infinity Constructed. This format will allow the use of all Disney Lorcana cards, regardless of their original set. Infinity Constructed will have its own separate ban list, as it is intended to support long-term play and legacy decks.
Finally, Ravensburger shared the first details of Set 10: “Whispers in the Well.” Set to be released in the fourth quarter of 2025, “Whispers in the Well” will include the introduction of a new Ethereal Glimmer type. The set will also introduce characters from “The Black Cauldron” and “Gargoyles.”
As one final tease from the livestream’s conclusion, Ravensburger hinted that Darkwing Duck is set to join Disney Lorcana. The information about Darkwing Duck was later verified by ComicBook, though a specific date is still unknown.
