Universal Studios Hollywood announced Universal Mega Movie Summer, a new event celebrating beloved films with meet and greets, special treats, and more.
Universal Mega Movie Summer
Universal filed a trademark for the name Universal Mega Movie Summer earlier this year. It’s reminiscent of Universal Mega Movie Parade at Universal Orlando Resort, but was only announced for Universal Studios Hollywood. The summer event is from June 13 through August 10.
Universal will celebrate the upcoming “Jurassic World: Rebirth” with new character meet and greets, a dinosaur scavenger hunt, and an enhanced Mosasaurus splash on Jurassic World – The Ride. “Jurassic World Rebirth” merchandise will be available.
For the 50th anniversary of “Jaws,” there will be new surprises on the world famous Studio Tour, including a special summer-long July 4th celebration at the Jaws Lake attraction. There will be “Jaws” 50th anniversary merchandise. Special food items at Hollywood & Dine include:
- Lobster Roll: Creamy Lobster Salad with mayo, celery, lemon, and chives served on a toasted bun with a side of seasoned pub fries.
- Shark Fin Funnel Cake: Funnel cake topped with blueberry compote, whipped cream, blue sanding sugar, and a shark fin.
- Amity Beach Lifesaver Donut: Vanilla glazed donut.

In honor of the 40th anniversary of “Back to the Future,” there will be character meet and greets, themed food and merchandise, and more — possibly similar to the offerings currently available during the after-hours Universal Fan Fest Nights. Mel’s Diner will continue offering “Back to the Future” melts and shakes.

There will also be a nighttime party in the park, and “How to Train Your Dragon”-themed merchandise and cookies at the Universal Studios Hollywood Plaza Cart.
