Another Check-Out Counter Removed From Emporium in Magic Kingdom as Refurbishment Continues

Construction walls have come down from the center room of the Emporium in Magic Kingdom, revealing another check-out counter was demolished.

The Emporium has been going through multiple stages of refurbishment as the store is reimagined with a new layout and color scheme. The back half of this room was blocked by construction walls for about two weeks. Like other rooms of the Emporium, the space got new tile added to the floor. The old tile is mostly white with small black squares, while the newer tile is brown with lighter squares breaking up the pattern.

The line between the reimagined section of the room and the still-old section is clearly visible. A border of green and white diamonds separates the old and new flooring. The more notable change, however, is the removal of the large circular check-out counter that used to be located in this room.

The missing counter was white with several registers. However, not all the registers in this space were regularly used, because this room had much less space for queueing compared to some of the other check-out areas. Disney has demolished other check-out counters in the past few weeks and installed new ones, all in an effort to improve foot traffic.

The door at the back of the room also received a new emergency exit sign. “EXIT” is now written in glowing green letters within a metal frame featuring an antique silver finish. The old sign had more traditional red letters and gold framing.

In the next room — the one closest to Town Square — the cash registers have all been removed from this counter.

There has been no refurbishment work in this area yet, so we assume this counter will be the next one demolished or refurbished.
