About halfway through 2025, Disney is leading the domestic box office with a total of $1.1 billion.
Disney Box Office So Far
Though not all of the studio’s films have been hits, they all help bolster Disney’s success. Films include Marvel’s “Captain America: Brave New World” ($200.5M), live-action “Snow White” ($87.2M), Marvel’s “Thunderbolts*” ($188.9M), and live-action “Lilo & Stitch” ($371.7M). They also released “The Amateur” ($40.8M) through 20th Century Studios.
With $1.1 billion, Disney is up 222% over this time in 2024. They didn’t have many big theatrical releases in the first half of last year, but “Inside Out 2” in June became the highest-grossing animated film of all time with $154.2M domestically. “Deadpool & Wolverine,” released in July, became the highest-grossing R-rated film with $636.7M.
Upcoming releases that could keep Disney at the top include Pixar’s “Elio,” Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” “Freakier Friday,” “Tron: Ares,” “Zootopia 2,” and “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”
Warner Bros. is just behind Disney with $906.9M so far this year. Universal Pictures and Focus Features have brought in $411.4M, with the live-action “How to Train Your Dragon” still raking in cash and “Jurassic World Rebirth” around the corner.
