More Planets Reinstalled on Astro Orbiter at Magic Kingdom

More planets have returned to orbit in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom as Astro Orbiter is reconstructed.

Astro Orbiter closed in January for a months-long refurbishment. The ride was dismantled for work off-site. In the past few weeks, crews have reinstalled pieces of the ride, including its central spire. Last week, the large orange planet and smaller celestial bodies returned to the ring around the spire.

Newly installed is the mid-sized teal blue planet. Sticking out of its frame are four smaller planets on golden poles.

Between the orange and teal planets is a silver cage-like orb with a gold-tone and an orange planet inside. An additional red planet is on its exterior, and there are small silver moons along its poles.

An orange and blue planet is the fourth large element on the giant ring, between the orange and teal planets. It has a translucent orb on a gold post above it.

The planets are all approximately the same design as they were prior to refurbishment. Compare our above photo from Monday, June 2, to the stock photo below.

The attraction’s elevator shaft was also painted gray.

Astro Orbiter is scheduled to reopen this summer. The Walt Disney World calendar still lists it as closed through at least August 2, although that could change.
