BREAKING: New EPCOT Test Track Sign Unveiled at EPCOT

Walt Disney Imagineering shared photos of the EPCOT Test Track new sign, which was installed a week ago but not unveiled until now.

“A marquee moment indeed!” Walt Disney Imagineering wrote on Instagram. “Installation of the new marquee at Test Track presented by [General Motors] has begun! The design echoes the attraction’s architecture, while incorporating the new logo in illuminated letters that will look amazing both day and night.” The new logo has been displayed on construction walls since the ride closed last summer. It’s blue with chevron shapes behind “Test Track.” “Presented by gm general motors” is on the post beneath the logo.

EPCOT Test Track New Sign Different Than Concept Art

The marquee sits several yards in front of the ride’s new overhang. It does not match the initial concept art released (below), but it’s not unusual for designs to change from concept art to construction. We’ve known for some time that the sign wouldn’t be exactly the same as the artwork because Disney revealed Test Track would revert to its General Motors sponsorship and the original art featured the Chevrolet logo.

Test Track reimagining concept art

Test Track was presented by General Motors when it opened in 1999. It switched to “Presented by Chevrolet,” a division of GM, when it was reimagined in 2012 because the company wanted to focus on different branding after filing for bankruptcy.

The reimagined Test Track will take inspiration from World of Motion, the opening day EPCOT attraction it replaced. Disney said they are focusing on reimagining the ride experience rather than pre- and post-shows. In April, they shared a first look at the reimagined Test Track ride vehicles, which have started testing on the ride. It’s set to reopen this summer, but Disney hasn’t announced a date.
