Potential Tropical Disturbance Bringing Rainy Weather to Fourth of July at Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a weather disturbance that could develop tropical conditions and will bring significant rain to Fourth of July weekend in Florida, Disney Orlando and Universal Orlando Resort.

Disturbance 1 has a 20% chance of developing into a tropical or subtropical cyclone in the next 7 days. It has a near 0% chance of formation in the next 48 hours.

The tropical disturbance is due to a frontal boundary expected to stall and weaken off the southeast coast of the U.S. late this week, creating an area of low pressure. It could form off either the Florida coast or directly over Florida having am impact on Orlando weather.

The NHC issued this update at 8:00 a.m. EDT on Monday, June 30, 2025. Predictions could change over the next several days.

Fourth of July at Disney and Universal

Whether or not this disturbance develops, storms are expected through the rest of this week and during the Fourth of July weekend, potentially affecting theme park celebrations.

Magic Kingdom and EPCOT at Walt Disney World are both scheduled to have Fourth of July fireworks, with the Magic Kingdom nighttime spectacular set for Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4. Universal Orlando Resort is planning their Independence Day celebration for Friday, with special character meet and greets and a live DJ at the Universal Music Plaza Stage, plus special Fourth of July pyrotechnics. Universal CityWalk Orlando is set to have live music, dancers, stilt walkers, and a live DJ.
