“Back to the Future” has taken over Schwab’s Pharmacy in Universal Studios Florida with window decals and two themed milkshakes.

Schwab’s Pharmacy is a retro ice cream shop in the Hollywood section of Universal Studios Florida. It serves Haagen-Dazs ice cream in cones, sundaes, splits, milkshakes, and more. It’s previously had simple overlays celebrating movie releases like “Trolls Band together” and “Puss in Boots.”

A mural of a DeLorean car with flames, a clock, and "The Printheads" in bold red—pure Back to the Future vibes.

Like the past overlays, this one is mostly comprised of decals posted on the large front windows. The DeLorean time machine is pictured driving across the left windows, with fire streaming behind its wheels. On the window closest to the door is the Hill Valley clock, “The Pinheads” in a hand-written style, and a graphic reading “Plutonium Theft?”

The Pinheads are Marty McFly’s band seen in the first “Back to the Future” film. The “Plutonium Theft” graphic is straight out of a news story in the opening of “Back to the Future” about the missing plutonium, which Doc Brown is using the power the time machine.

Pictured above the front of the DeLorean is the flux capacitor, which makes time travel possible. These decals are already pretty worn out despite only being up for a few days. There’s also a pink pair of undies with “Marty McFly” printed on the waistband. Marty famously wears pink Calvin Klein underwear, leading Lorraine to believe his name is Calvin.

On the right windows is the “Back to the Future” 40th anniversary logo, including the film’s orange-yellow gradient text and a blue “40.” Within the zero is the Hill Valley clock and Doc Brown’s silhouette.

On the window closest to the door is a pixelated version of the DeLorean. This artwork is used on “Back to the Future” 40th anniversary merchandise. Above that is a stylized version of the dehydrated pizza made in “Back to the Future Part II.” A radioactive decal is straight off of the box of plutonium.

The “Art in Revolution” decal is inspired by a button Marty wears on his jacket. Another decal represents the video camera he uses to film Doc’s first demonstration of the time machine. The “You’re Fired!!!” fax is from “Back to the Future Part II,” when future Marty is fired from CusCo.

The imagery on the far right includes the plutonium case, the Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor label, the DeLorean with its doors opens, Doc’s dog Einstein, Marty’s skateboard with purple paint splatter, his pink and green hoverboard, the DeLorean’s “OUTATIME” license plate, and a big yellow Biff’s sign.

Above the door is the 40th anniversary logo against artwork of the time machine’s dashboard, including the time circuits with the date October 26, 1985, the date Marty first travels through time. Doc’s catchphrase “Great Scott!” is below the art.

A flyer for the Enchantment Under the Sea dance is posted on the door.

Inside, there aren’t more decorations, but the decals are still visible mirrored through the windows.

Other than the decals, the only other “Back to the Future” element is on the menu screens. They feature graphics inspired by the pink hoverboard, plus the 40th anniversary logo.

Doc Brown looked pretty proud of the overlay. He usually wanders near the DeLorean and train on display next to Springfield (formerly the site of Back to the Future: The Ride) but can be spotted near Schwab’s right now.

Milkshake Reviews

Though not indicated on the menu or any signage, the two “Back to the Future”-inspired milkshakes do come in cups featuring the 40th anniversary logo.

Rock & Roll Shake – $9.99

Rocky Road Ice Cream with Marshmallow Cream, Popping Milk Chocolate, Whipped Topping and a Chocolate Guitar

A hand holds a chocolate milkshake from Schwab's Pharmacy at Universal Studios Florida, topped with a yellow guitar decoration.

The chocolate guitar started to melt right away. We loved the popping chocolate rocks on top. Given it’s rocky road ice cream, there are lots of chunks in the shake, which some people might not like.

Chocolate milkshake with whipped cream and a yellow guitar, just like at Schwab's Pharmacy in Universal Studios Florida.

It tasted like iced hot chocolate but with a bit of peanut flavor. We like Häagen-Dazs ice cream because it’s rich and not artificial, so this isn’t super unique but it’s still a win. And your kids are gonna love it.

Wake Up Juice – $9.99

Strawberry Ice Cream with Strawberry Crumbs, Whipped Topping, and a “Wake You Up” Cayenne Spice

This milkshake is named after the drink used to sober up Doc in “Back to the Future Part III.” It makes for an interesting shake and it really does try to wake you up with the cayenne spice. You won’t taste it right away, but it does eventually hit you.

We preferred this shake over the Rock & Roll Shake. It’s more unique and worth a try if you like spice. But kids probably won’t like it.
