REVIEW: Sunshine Seasons Replaces Pepperoni Pizza Roll with New Flatbreads and Caprese Sandwich

Sunshine Seasons at EPCOT is getting in on the summer menu refresh action, as they’ve eliminated the Pepperoni Pizza Roll from the menu and added new flatbread pizzas and a caprese sandwich. We hit the Monorail and made our way over to try all three new options.

Sunshine Seasons

Sunshine Seasons is located inside The Land pavilion, which itself is located in World Nature at EPCOT.

Menu boards display entrée, flatbreads, and kids' meals, plus a sandwich photo at Sunshine Seasons.

The two flatbreads are on the Kids’ Meals menu, but the Caprese Sandwich is on the regular entrees menu.

Flatbread Pepperoni Pizza – $12.99

Served with choice of Chips or Side Salad

Rectangular pepperoni flatbreads with four slices on a paper tray, served at Sunshine Seasons on a patterned table.

We’re disappointed to report that this flatbread was cold when we got it. The added pepperoni doesn’t make this flatbread any better than without. We won’t need to worry about asking for a to-go box, as we don’t want to eat any more of this than we have to.

We would much rather have eaten pizza from a different mouse-led empire; anywhere else is likely to have a better flatbread pizza than this.

Cheese Flatbread – $7.59

Served with Pasta Salad, Applesauce, and choice of Small Lowfat Milk or Small DASANI Bottled Water

Rectangular cheese pizza flatbread with tomato sauce, served on a tray at Sunshine Seasons atop a patterned table.

Our cheese flatbread was also cold, and tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. It’s super disappointing, and we don’t think it’s intended for anyone with a palate. All we can taste is bread and cheese; it’s extremely bland. It might be fine for a kid or a picky eater, but we think it’s disgusting (and we don’t use that word lightly).

Caprese Sandwich – $11.99

Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato, and Pesto on Multigrain Bread with choice of Chips or Side Salad

Grilled sandwich with tomato, mozzarella, spinach, and pesto, served on decorative paper in a bowl at Sunshine Seasons.

The Caprese Sandwich at least looks a little more appetizing than the flatbreads. We appreciate the choice of a thinner multigrain bread over a heavy roll for the summer. The bread is also toasted perfectly; it’s not squishy but not rock hard.

A sandwich with tomato, mozzarella, pesto, and greens on toasted flatbreads, served in a paper-lined bowl.

The pesto hides the potential lack of freshness of the tomato, and the mozzarella is fine. It’s not going to change your life, but it’s a quick, lighter bite you can grab and split with a friend or family member. We think it’s a good value as well when paired with chips or a side salad.
