Test Track Update: EPCOT’s Test Track entrance under construction, fenced off with equipment and a “Coming Soon” sign.

Just a few days ago, Walt Disney Imagineering shared photos of the new Test Track sign, and we snapped a few photos from our in-person look at it from the Walt Disney World Monorail. The sign is located where the old sign standing, in a circle a few yards in front of the show building. Concrete was poured in the circle a few weeks ago, and the new sign was installed at the end of May.

Today, we noticed that the sign is now surrounded by sand-colored rocks of varying shapes and sizes. The new signage and surrounding detail is vastly different from the original concept art (shown below).

Changes from concept art to completion are not uncommon. We already knew the sign would be different because the concept art reads “Presented by Chevrolet,” but Test Track is reverting to a General Motors sponsorship. Although the new sign is different, the building and overhang look very similar to the art. The attraction’s signs denoting line queues and wait times are also similar.

Construction barriers surround the Test Track entrance at EPCOT, with test track rocks and machinery visible near the building.

Looking under the roof structure, stanchions are being added to the area in front of the entrance, along with what could be early attraction touch points for MagicBand+. It appears the stanchions will still be made up of metal poles and silver chains, as they were in previous iterations of the ride.

The reimagined Test Track will take inspiration from World of Motion, the opening day EPCOT attraction it replaced. Disney said they are focusing on reimagining the ride experience rather than pre- and post-shows. In April, they shared a first look at the reimagined Test Track ride vehicles, which have started testing on the ride over the past few weeks.

Test Track is set to reopen this summer, but Disney hasn’t announced a date yet. Although it does seem like the finishing touches are being completed on the exterior of the attraction, there may be some remaining work inside the building.
