Nintendo revealed in Wednesday’s Direct presentation about Donkey Kong Bananza for Nintendo Switch 2 that Super Nintendo World Power-Up Bands will work as amiibos with the game.
Donkey Kong Bananza Amiibo and Power-Up Bands
The Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong Power-Up Bands are included among other Donkey Kong amiibo products that will create a special effect in the upcoming game.
Scanning one of the Kong Power-Up Bands or amiibo figures will make gold “KONG” tiles with explosive power appear. The new Donkey Kong and Pauline figure also unlocks Pauline’s “Diva Dress.”
All other amiibos released up to this point, including other Super Nintendo World Power-Up Bands, will also work with the game, generating giant spheres with helpful effects. Only the Donkey Kong amiibos will create the explosive letters.

Power-Up Bands are available for purchase at Super Nintendo World in Universal Epic Universe, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Universal Studios Japan. The bands are used to complete Key Challenges and trigger other interactive elements in the land. The Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong Power-Up Bands were first released with the opening of the Donkey Kong Country expansion to Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan.
