Walt Disney World to Add New Finale Scene Lyrics to “it’s a small world”
It’s a Small World Last Verse
The Sherman brothers wrote the original “it’s a small world” lyrics. Robert Sherman passed away in 2012 and Richard Sherman in 2024. Richard wrote “the last verse” of “it’s a small world” before his passing and Disney released it via a short film in November 2024.
Disney previously announced the Disneyland version of the ride would get the last verse on its 70th anniversary date — July 17, 2025. On Monday, they announced the Magic Kingdom version would get the verse on the same date. The verse will play in the ride’s final scenes.
The update is “meant to add to the attraction’s legacy and further emphasize the song’s meaning,” said Disney Parks Blog.
Richard Sherman’s son, Gregg Sherman, said the new verse is intended to “celebrate that there’s more that unites us than divides us, and reinforce the message of that song.”
Last Verse of It’s a Small World Lyrics
These are the lyrics:
“Mother earth unites us in heart and mind
And the love we give makes us humankind
Through our vast wondrous land
When we stand hand in hand
It’s a small world after all.”
A digital single of “it’s a small world” with the last verse will be released online. The “it’s a small world” (70th Anniversary) special edition vinyl is available for preorder from Disney Music Emporium now. It will be released on July 18, 2025.
