Most of the scrims and scaffolding are down from around the tower in the Italy pavilion of EPCOT as a months-long refurbishment nears its end.
Italy Pavilion Tower Refurbishment
Crews began blocking off the tower in February before completely covering it in “camouflage” scrim in March. Now, only about six feet of scrim remains over construction walls around the base of the tower.

The “camouflage” scrim, printed to look like the tower, is around three sides of the walls. It does not cover the walls facing the nearby shops. An access door for the construction site is on this side.

The tower’s design did not change. The refurbishment included general maintenance and possibly repainting.

The bell tower is inspired by St. Mark’s Campanile, the bell tower of St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, Italy. The EPCOT replica is about 83 feet tall, while the real tower is 323 feet.
