New Star Wars Merqaal and Baby Bantha Plush From Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland has two new plush toys inspired by “Star Wars” creatures.

Merqaal Plush – $54.99

A hand holds a plush toy creature with orange-red limbs, yellow eyes, and a wide, toothy smile in a shop.

The Merqaal looks kind of like the real-world axolotl, but it’s a mammal instead of an amphibian. It has fluffy orange and red ombré fur, big green eyes, and sharp teeth in a wide mouth. It has three sets of tendrils sticking out of its head.

A hand holds a plush toy creature with orange fur and gray scale-like armor, displayed in a store.

Along its top set of tendrils, back, and tail are gray scales. Although these would be hard in real life, they are made of soft fabric on the plush. According to the creature’s tag, it is fiercely loyal, agile, and playful, but can be vicious. The Merqaal named Nix is a main character in the game Star Wars Outlaws.

A battery pack is in the plush’s belly. Once batteries are installed and the plush is turned on, it can blink its eyes, open its mouth, and make sounds. Its tendrils and legs are opposable.

The Merqaal is available to adopt from the Creature Stall. The Merqaal plush is also available at Walt Disney World.

Baby Bantha Plush – $29.99

A person holds a brown Star Wars plush at Galaxy's Edge, surrounded by similar toys in a Disneyland store.

Over at Toydarian Toymaker is the baby Bantha plush. Banthas resemble mammoths. The baby Bantha’s proportions are a little different than the full-grown Banthas. It has long brown fur around its face, beady eyes, and a wide mouth.

It has large spiral horns on the sides of its head. On its back is a pleather saddle. It is not designed to be removable.

Bantha have appeared in Star Wars since the very first film, A New Hope, in which they are seen on Tatooine.

The Baby Bantha is also at Walt Disney World.
