REVIEW: New and Updated Breakfast Pastries & Desserts Debut at Contempo Cafe

Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort updated their menu, getting rid of a dozen items and introducing several new items. WDWNT visited to try the breakfast and dessert updates.

Large "Contempo Cafe" sign hangs above diners enjoying breakfast pastries in a bright, modern atrium filled with natural light.

As we noted in our post about the Contempo Cafe menu updates, it turns out that some treats have been renamed and updated. The 5-Legged Goat Tart is now the Passion Fruit-Raspberry Tart and the Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums Cupcake is now the Dark & Milk Chocolate Mousse Cupcake. Other pastries and cupcakes now available include the Key Lime Cupcake; Bacon, Chive, and Cheese Croissant Twist; Cinnamon Sugar Croissant Muffin; and Banana Cream & Caramel Trifle.

Passion Fruit-Raspberry Tart – $6.79

Vanilla tart shell with raspberry and passion fruit curd and whipped cream

As the 5-Legged Goat Tart, this tart was filled with raspberry-lemon curd. It’s still very raspberry heavy, but the two powerful fruit flavors are fighting with each other. It’s too tart. We would skip this one.

Dark & Milk Chocolate Mousse Cupcake – $6.49

This was previously the Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums Cupcake topped with chocolate chip cookie dough mousse. It now features a delicious fudge-like frosting. It’s not disgustingly sweet — it’s more of a genuine, rich chocolate. The cupcake is moist and dense with a great texture. This is messy to eat, we recommend using a fork and knife. This is great if you like chocolate.

Key Lime Cupcake – $5.99

Vanilla cupcake, key lime curd, graham cracker crumbs, and whipped cream

You have to like key lime to enjoy this but it’s fantastic. The graham cracker on top is wonderful. It stands out among all the sweets.

Bacon, Chive, and Cheese Croissant Twist – $6.29

This is very buttery, salty, and savory. It’s a little chewy but still good with a delicate outer shell.

Cinnamon Sugar Croissant Muffin – $4.79

This is a croissant rolled up like a cinnamon roll, with chocolate running through the center. The cinnamon is overpowering. It’s pretty sweet and the chocolate is cold. But if you like croissants and chocolate, this isn’t a bad option.

Banana Cream & Caramel Trifle – $5.99

Layers of banana “whipped cream,” streusel, and caramel (Plant-based)

The whipped cream on top is plain, plant-based whipped cream, followed by caramel and then the banana layer. The streusel part made everything chalky and dry. The banana layer wasn’t creamy or sweet, while the caramel was super sweet. Nothing seemed to work together.
