Signs on the construction walls surrounding Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Orlando Resort, hint to several possible themes for the attractions replacement, including “Fast and Furious,” “Back to the Future,” and “Ghostbusters” franchises.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Construction Wall Signs

Crews have begun construction around Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Orlando Resort Florida, although the attraction does not permanently close until August 18. In our last update, crews had begun to clear land, shrubbery, and other plants from the area. At that time, this walls surrounding the roller coaster in Universal Orlando Resort were a blank canvas. Now, themed-signs, hinting at the possible “new experience” have been posted.

One of the new signs posted to construction walls is an advertisement for “Gundacker Construction,” which is likely a nod to Charlie Gundacker, Senior Vice President of Attraction Development for Universal Parks. While the “213” Los Angeles area code could be a reference to Universal Hollywood, it could also be a reference to the home of Dom Toretto, of “Fast and the Furious” fame. Universal Hollywood is getting a Fast & Furious roller coaster, so it could be a hint that a similar attraction will be built in Florida.

Another of the posted signs could hint at a “Back to the Future” attraction with the “better roads for a better future” tagline. The “warning” sign above it mentions “road construction in progress, use alternate route.” Well, where Doc and Marty go, they don’t need roads.

Another of the signs on the nearby corner of the construction walls actually references the “Ghostbusters” firehouse could indicate the facade will be restored to its Ghostbusters theming, and that the ride replacing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit will be inspired by Ghostbusters.

Some of the walls also have “Post No Bills” stenciled on. The walls don’t reach all the way up to the current coaster’s elevated track, but completely surround its supports.
Though Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit won’t close for another few weeks, the construction walls are likely up already so crews can move in construction equipment and start preparing for demolition. Universal confirmed the coaster’s closure last year, following long-running rumors that its end was imminent.
What Will Rip Ride Rockit be Replaced With?
Universal has not confirmed what “new experience” will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, but a permit filed in March 2025 listed a two-story building among the construction work. It’s rumored to be a multi-launch coaster designed by Intamin, who Universal hired for unknown work last fall.
The added signage to the construction walls could hint at a ride themed to the “Fast and Furious,” “Back to the Future,” or “Ghostbusters” franchise. Or all of the signs could be a red herring to avert guest and fan attention away from the truth.
