The new final verse for “it’s a small world” has now debuted at Disneyland for the park’s 70th anniversary.

New Verse for “it’s a small world”

Colorful sign and children figures celebrate Disneyland’s “it’s a small world”—the Happiest cruise around the world.

The famous “it’s a small world” theme song was written by the late Sherman Brothers. The new verse was written by Richard Sherman in 2023 for the 60th anniversary of “it’s a small world.” Disney publicly released the verse with a short film in late 2024, after Sherman’s passing. Disney later announced they would add the verse to “it’s a small world” as part of the Disneyland 70th anniversary celebration.

Animatronic children at Disneyland sing "it's a small world" on a whimsical stage with flowers and mountains.

Richard Sherman’s son, Gregg Sherman, said the new verse is intended to “celebrate that there’s more that unites us than divides us, and reinforce the message of that song.”

The new lyrics of the verse are below.

“Mother earth unites us in heart and mind
And the love we give makes us humankind
Through our vast wondrous land
When we stand hand in hand
It’s a small world after all.”

As of July 17, the new last verse can be heard in the finale room of “it’s a small world” at both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. The verse was also added to the “Tapestry of Happiness” projection show. A new Sherman Brothers tribute at the Main Street Cinema features the short film “The Last verse.”
