BREAKING: First Look at New Ride Vehicles for Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin

Disney has shared a first look at the new ride vehicles for the overhaul of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom.

A colorful Buzz Lightyear-themed amusement park ride vehicle sits on a wooden pallet in a warehouse.

Disney announced earlier this year that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin would get a major overhaul to add scene updates, technical improvements, and more — including new ride vehicles, which were revealed today during a media event.

The new vehicles have a Star Command-inspired look with a purple, green, and gray color scheme — similar to Buzz Lightyear himself. They will feature video monitors with real-time scores and “other exciting features.” The blasters will no longer be mounted on the vehicles.

People ride Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, aiming toy blasters at targets on this neon space-themed adventure.

The previous ride vehicles, pictured above, were originally from 1972, having been carried over from Delta Dreamflight.

As we expected, the new vehicles are similar to the vehicles of other more advanced shooting attractions at Disney Parks around the world, including Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue at Shanghai Disneyland and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! at Hong Kong Disneyland.

The new blasters and targets are also similar to these international attractions. We got to play-test the game earlier this year.

The same updates are likely planned for the Wreck-It Ralph attraction replacing Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters at Tokyo Disneyland.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed in August. Check out our last look at the attraction.

It will reopen in 2026.
