Amy Adams and Aaron Pierre officially join the cast of Star Wars: Starfighter. Variety did not report what roles they would play.

The film also stars Flynn Gray, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, Matt Smith, and Mia Goth.

Variety also reports that Director Shawn Levy and star Ryan Gosling have begun production in the United Kingdom. To celebrate the milestone, Lucasfilm released a photo of Gosling and Gray posing in front of a landspeeder.

It appears similar to the one used by Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope.

Levy said,

I feel a profound sense of excitement and honor as we begin production on Star Wars: Starfighter. From the day Kathy Kennedy called me up, inviting me to develop an original adventure in this incredible Star Wars galaxy, this experience has been a dream come true, creatively and personally.

Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever. To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime.

Starfighter will take place five years after The Rise of Skywalker, which was the last Star Wars film released in theaters in 2019.

Details are scarce as to what Starfighter will be about, but we do know it is written by Jonathan Tropper (“The Adam Project”). The movie is set to be released on May 28, 2027.

Movie title graphic reads "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. In theaters May 2026" against a starry space background.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will be released next year on May 22, 2026. Also in development is a Star Wars sequel, which is set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker.

A film about the origins of the Force is also in the works, to be directed by James Mangold. Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni is leading a film set between The Mandalorian and The Force Awakens. Simon Kinberg is developing a new Star Wars trilogy.
