Metal Framing Added to Former Rivers of America in Magic Kingdom

As draining continues and pieces of track are being removed, metal framing is going vertical in the former Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom.

Rivers of America Construction

Recently, the first visible piece of track from the Rivers of America was removed as Disney transforms the area into Piston Peak. Now that the area is mostly drained, minus some rainwater and puddling, construction equipment is beginning to arrive.

Among the machinery, lights, construction cones, and other equipment, a large section of scaffolding has been put up near the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure side of the former Rivers of America.

Surrounding the base of the metal framework is some puddling, but there is a water pump set up to remove that excess water.

The metal framework is two “levels,” high in some sections and four in others.

One metal sheet has been laid across one section, though some additional pieces may get added as work continues.

Piston Peak

Disney has big plans for Rivers of America, as the Rocky Mountains-inspired Cars area will be an expansion to Frontierland named Piston Peak. It will include a river, water features, and a potential barrel bridge in homage to Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. There will be two rides in the area, including an off-road rally race attraction.
