New Permit Filed for Disney’s Hollywood Studios Archway Ahead of Animation Courtyard Overhaul

Another construction permit has been filed for Disney’s Hollywood Studios ahead of the transformation of Animation Courtyard into The Walt Disney Studios.

New Permit Filed for Disney’s Hollywood Studios Arch

The permit was filed today, August 6, 2025, for “Site Modifications” at 561 Stage Ln., Bay Lake, FL 32830. This address corresponds to the Disney’s Hollywood Studios archway, which is set to be demolished as the courtyard is reimagined.

The work is contracted to North American Crane and Rigging, LLC, a provider of crane services, specialty and industrial rigging, heavy hauling, and special projects. The permit expires one year from its filing date, on August 6, 2026. This permit marks the third to be filed for Animation Courtyard this month, and the second for the Hollywood Studios archway.

A Reimagined Animation Courtyard

Animation Courtyard is set to be rethemed into The Walt Disney Studios Lot, taking inspiration from Disney’s real studio lot in Burbank, California. The Magic of Disney Animation will return, meaning that Star Wars Launch Bay will permanently close. Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will be replaced with a new Disney Jr. show.

The Magic of Disney Animation was previously an opening-day attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, focused on the operating Disney Feature Animation studio, where “Lilo & Stitch” (2001) was created. Feature Animation closed in 2004, but the attraction remained open until 2015, when it was replaced with Star Wars Launch Bay. The new version of the attraction will open in 2026 as a “place where kids and kids at heart can laugh, draw, dream, and explore animated new experiences.”
