We got a first look at the “opening scaremonies” for Halloween Horror Nights 34 at Universal Studios Florida. The opening scaremonies open every evening of the event and can be viewed from outside the park gates.
Halloween Horror Nights 2025 Opening Scaremonies

The ceremony is narrated by Sergio Navarro, the titular artist of the original house El Artista: A Spanish Haunting. Sergio is a tortured artist in 19th century Spain whose art comes alive and possesses him. He warns guests waiting in front of Universal Studios Florida, “The conservatory before you conceals a more sinister truth. It is the birthplace for the origins of horror.”

The entirety of this year’s event is set inside the conservatory, which guests enter as they walk into the park and The Origins of Horror scare zone. Though each scare zone and house has a different theme, there are hints that guests are always inside the conservatory. During the opening ceremonies, gargoyles, giant bird figures, and living statues covered in thorns loom over guests.

They are joined by classic chainsaw-wielding scareactors wearing aprons and masks. Sergio explains that every stroke of a paint brush and every word written “breeds life to a new nightmare.” He’s haunted by visions of terrors and tells guests, “Once inside, you’ll be left no choice but to let them in.”
With each stroke of my brush, the origins of horror break through the fog.
