Construction Walls Expand Around Rivers of America in Magic Kingdom

Even more construction walls and scrim now surround the Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom, although they still aren’t completely blocking views of the drained river.

The construction walls in Liberty Square currently end right at the beginning of the Frontierland pier.

The scrim-covered metal we saw a few days ago in the nearby former riverbed area is gone. Most of the Liberty Square Riverboat track remains on the floor of the river, although a piece closer to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was removed last month.

There are some concrete blocks next to the track and outside Aunt Polly’s on Tom Sawyer Island. The riverboat and island closed permanently in June, and the river was drained over the next few weeks. The land will be transformed into a Cars expansion to Frontierland.

New Construction Walls Added

A wooden bridge with rope railings spans the Rivers of America, ending at tan construction walls under a blue sky.

The new construction walls covered in beige scrims are located between the pier and scaffolding closer to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Previously, the construction walls picked up at the far end of the pier, further down by the bridge.

Now a significant section of the pier has walls on its river-facing side.

The walls turn at the corner of the pier, nearly meeting up with the previously-existing walls on the bridge. The scrim-covered walls are actually sitting in the former river, as opposed to lining the inside of the walkway.

Approximately 2,000 Rivers of America fish were relocated to Seven Seas Lagoon in front of Magic Kingdom.
