Space Mountain Exit Receiving Refurbishment Work at Disney World

Space Mountain is receiving refurbishment work at Disney World, including working on old carpet at the exit of the attraction.

Space Mountain Refurbishment

Three people walk up a dim ramp with metal railings toward Space Mountain’s blue-lit entrance at Disney World.

The Space Mountain attraction is currently open, but crews are completing refurbishment work at the exit of the ride.

If you’re familiar with the exit area of the attraction, you know you have to walk for what feels like forever on the ramps. They lead out to the gift shop, Tomorrowland Launch Depot.

It appears they are replacing older carpet on both sides of the ramp. It’s not the ramp itself being worked on; it’s the carpet in the areas where you look over the railings. A metallic-looking covering is placed on the carpet in various areas.

This series of ramps was added in 2018 to take guests back up to Tomorrowland after the removal of the speed ramps.

These areas over the railings are where the silver balls were located. Hopefully, they will return after this renovation is finished.

The exit ramps are still open; however, the railings are covered in white scrim. The various Tomorrowland scenes throughout the attraction’s exit are still the same.

Guests stroll through a Disney World hallway with a handrail cover and red fire alarm.

The paint in some areas could also use some work refreshing, as seen by all the scuffs on the wall pictured above.

We are unsure how long the work will last or what other tasks will be completed as part of the refurbishment.
