Disney's Polynesian Village Resort Opens New Roadway Entrance

The new roadway entrance to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is now fully open, and the old entrance is closed. The old entrance will become a bus entrance. But while that is being converted and the bus stop is under construction, buses are dropping off at the Great Ceremonial House’s porte cochere.

The new guard house at the Polynesian is complete.

As we reported on December 17, the new guard house is complete. It received a Christmas wreath overnight. The brown, beige, and orange paneling matches the rest of the resort’s theming.

The new entrance is off Floridian Way and brings cars (and currently buses) straight to the Great Ceremonial House.

A-frame signs near the entrance and old bus stop point guests to the porte cochere for bus pick-up.

Though the new entrance is open, construction isn’t quite complete in the area. Sidewalks and roads are still being reconfigured and there is some landscaping to be completed. There are temporary barriers keeping guests from crossing into the remaining construction zone.

A section of road between the porte cochere and the bus stops was torn up during construction and has yet to be repaved.

A flowerbed in the parking lot is currently devoid of foliage but has fresh sod. The parking around the planter is open.

The bus stop is not currently accessible to guests. We saw crew members working in the area, including one crew member removing lights from the plaza.

There is now temporary fencing up in front of the old roadway entrance, which still has the Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort sign.

Traffic cones keep guests from getting in the turn lane for the old entrance.
