New Walkway Slabs

World Showcase travelers may notice some new pavement on their journey as Disney recently installed it in between Mexico and Norway pavilions.

As you walk between the Mexico and Norway Pavilions, you’ll see a row of new patterned walkway slabs. The geometric Mayan design seemingly lets you know you have now crossed into a different pavilion.

The pattern shows a maze or swirl design in the center with four quadrants and zigzags separating them from one another. On the outer perimeter of the design is a row of pyramid or stair-inspired patterns with a small hook loop on the right side of each image. The stair shape is reminiscent of the Mexico Pavilion’s iconic pyramid.

It appears that the new patterned slabs may be replacing the concrete or brick slabs currently dividing the areas around World Showcase. As of December 18, we have not seen any other new pavement installed.

What do you think of these new walkway pieces? Let us know in the comments or on social media!
