This morning, all of the Oscar nominations for 2026 were released. Disney received a few award nominations for its releases from last year, including Zootopia 2, Elio, and Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Best Animated Feature


Disney received award nominations in two distinct categories this year. Both Pixar’s Elio and Zootopia 2 are up for Best Animated Feature. Elio is a film about the titular character who gets beamed up to the Communiverse and winds up becoming an ambassador to Earth among a host of aliens. Zootopia 2 brings back Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde for another adventure through the city of Zootopia, this time on the lookout for a snake.
The other nominees are:
- Arco
- KPop Demon Hunters
- Little Amélie or the Character of Rain
Best Visual Effects

Meanwhile, Avatar: Fire and Ash was nominated for Best Visual Effects. This third film in the Avatar franchise brings us back into James Cameron’s world of Pandora, where Jake Sully and his family are up against familiar adversaries and new ones from the Mangkwan Clan. According to NBC, the film had a budget of at least $400 million.

- The Lost Bus
- Sinners
Costume Design

In addition to the visual effects nomination, Deborah L. Scott also received a nomination for Costume Design for her work on Avatar: Fire and Ash. Scott’s work has been seen in a myriad of other films, including the other Avatar movies, Titanic, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and Back to the Future. She won the Oscar for Best Costume Design in 1998 for her work on Titanic.

Best Animated Short Film

Retirement Plan has been nominated for Best Animated Short Film. It streams on Disney+ in UK/Europe.
