Zootopia 2‘s blockbuster success continues as it has officially overtaken Inside Out 2 to become the highest-grossing Hollywood animated film ever.

‘Zootopia 2’ Top Hollywood Animated Film

Yesterday, we reported that Zootopia 2 had cracked the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time, knocking Jurassic World off the list. Less than a day later, its current take of $1.703 billion has not only lifted Zootopia 2 to the #9 spot, but also made it the highest-grossing Motion Picture Association (MPA) animated film of all time. The previous title holder was Inside Out 2 with $1.69 billion, which is now #10 on the global highest-grossing films list.

It’s just another honor for Zootopia 2, whose theatrical run is continuing into its ninth week since its release over Thanksgiving weekend. It had the biggest-ever global opening for an animated film and is now Walt Disney Animation’s highest-grossing movie ever.

Notably, Zootopia 2 was the first Hollywood movie to ever pass the $100 million mark in a single day in China, which has been largely responsible for the film’s success: it has already earned over $500 million in that country alone.
