Another Permit Filed for Muppets Transformation of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Walt Disney World

A new Notice of Commencement has been filed for the upcoming Muppets retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Notice of Commencement to Install Set Elements

The new permit, filed in Orange County today (January 7, 2026), contracts Walt Disney Imagineering vendor Jon Richards Company to “install set elements” at the Hollywood Studios address:

This comes only a few weeks after another permit was filed for the same reason, but with Imagineering contractor Mecca Productions (who is also working on the Indiana Jones retheme of DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom).

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets

We learned earlier this month that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will close in the spring and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open in the summer of 2026. The ride’s pre-show has already been boarded up, so construction could begin while the ride remains open.

In the Muppets version of the ride, Scooter’s uncle, J.P. Grosse, has purchased G-Force Records and signed Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Similar to the Aerosmith version, guests will go on a VIP tour and meet the Muppets (including Kermit and Miss Piggy), then race across town with the help of Muppet Labs to make it to the Electric Mayhem concert. The soundtrack will feature the Electric Mayhem playing iconic hits.

The re-theme follows the permanent closure of MuppetVision 3D to make way for a Monsters, Inc. land.
