Crews have removed more trees as construction of Piston Peak National Park continues in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom.
Piston Peak National Park Construction

The dirt area next to The Haunted Mansion has apparently become a parking lot for crew members. The Haunted Mansion queue is surrounded by construction walls and scrim to block construction from view and prepare for work on a new walkway between Liberty Square and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Scaffolding and more scrim were recently installed in the mansion’s graveyard.

A swath of trees has been removed from the forested area next to The Haunted Mansion queue. We saw this gap in aerial photos by bioreconstruct earlier this week.

A line of trees remains directly behind the mansion’s queue. From the ground, the incline of this space is more obvious. It may ultimately be flattened for the walkway.
In the concept art below, the new walkway is visible on the right side.

In the center of the concept art is the Cars-inspired Piston Peak National Park. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure are in the background.

Around the base of the hill is some freshly overturned dirt. In the foreground, where part of Tom Sawyer Island used to be, are a tree stump, backflow assembly, and long green tubing. The aerial view revealed concrete forms are in place beyond the construction walls, but they aren’t visible from the ground.

In other Frontierland news, a new wood frame is in place outside Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which will reopen this spring after an over year-long refurbishment. We don’t know for sure if the wood frame is related to the coaster or the new Piston Peak National Park.
