Scaffolding Added to Haunted Mansion Queue for Piston Peak Construction

Scaffolding has gone up in the graveyard of The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom, joining walls and scrim related to the construction of the new Piston Peak. The first signs of work in The Haunted Mansion queue were construction markers installed in July 2025. These were later replaced by construction walls.

The scaffolding is in the graveyard at the very end of the outdoor queue, next to Madame Leota’s tombstone. It’s covered by green scrim to block work from view. Uncovered scaffolding is also visible beyond the construction walls at the back of the graveyard.

The scaffolding is around a fence that marks the end of the graveyard. The Mister Sewell and Brother Claude tombstones remain alongside Leota’s.

Below is what the area looked like a few months ago when construction walls went up.

The beige scrim installed in September is still in place along the rest of the queue. The Haunted Mansion continues to operate as normal.

Disney stated that with the construction of the new Piston Peak in Frontierland, they would add a walkway directly between The Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. This construction around The Haunted Mansion is presumably for that walkway, which is visible on the right side of the above concept art.

Disney recently filed a permit for the former Mike Fink Keel Boats landing at the front of The Haunted Mansion queue. Though it was assumed the landing would be demolished (it’s not pictured in concept art), the permit contracts a theming company, suggesting it may be re-themed instead.

Work has begun on concrete forms in Piston Peak, which replaces Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. A new Disney Villains land is also in development beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
