“The Handoff”

ESPN and Disney will start their coverage of the 2027 Super Bowl more than a year in an advance with a 24-hour event. Called “The Handoff,” ESPN will establish an on-air presence in Southern California where the 2027 Super Bowl will take place.
Super Bowl LXI will take place at SoFi Stadium in California on February 14, 2027. Coverage begins there before moving to Hollywood Park. Disneyland will have special moments the following day, February 9. This is the first time ESPN will air the Super Bowl.
“The Handoff” will feature “live shows, exclusive reveals and original storytelling from locations throughout Southern California,” ESPN said in an announcement. It will be available on streaming and linear platforms.
Beginning with the crowning of a Super Bowl champion inside Levi’s Stadium and the conclusion of NFL PrimeTime, Chris Berman will ceremonially “hand off” to Scott Van Pelt, who will be at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. This moment marks the official start of “The Handoff.”
The fun continues the following day in Anaheim. With a set in Town Square at the foot of Main Street, U.S.A., within Disneyland Park, First Take with Stephen A. Smith, multiple editions of SportsCenter, NFL Live and a second episode of Super Bowl Live will originate from within the park. ESPN will also welcome and honor a player from the Super Bowl LX championship team.
ABC News’ Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live! will also have coverage.
