Minor construction projects continue in The Lost Continent at Universal Islands of Adventure as Universal prepares for something new.
The Lost Continent Bridge

The bridge connecting The Lost Continent and Seuss Landing was refurbished late last year. Work isn’t quite complete, however. New additions are a pair of L-shaped elements with dangling lanterns.

The lanterns fit the theming of The Lost Continent, but could also be made to match whatever new attraction is coming to the area. Last month, Universal filed a Notice of Commencement for a new Intamin ride in the area. Intamin developed two fan-favorite Islands of Adventure coasters: Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and Jurassic World VelociCoaster.

The lanterns are near the center of the bridge. Scaffolding remains on the outside of the bridge near The Lost Continent.

The scaffolding may be for continued work on the bridge or the nearby rockwork.
Poseidon’s Fury

Water has been drained from this pool outside Poseidon’s Fury, the last remaining Lost Continent attraction, which closed in May 2023.

Construction walls went up and down and then up again at the former Poseidon’s Fury exit. But we have yet to see any major signs of construction in the area.

Behind the construction walls is a stack of more walls, indicating they might go up throughout The Lost Continent soon. After filing a permit for demolition across five acres of land, Universal confirmed last September that there would be “construction activity” for “future developments” in The Lost Continent. They later filed a permit to renovate seven acres.

The entrance archway for Poseidon’s Fury remains, albeit without any signage. Only a couple of barriers block guests from entering. “Poseidon’s Fury” signage was removed from the nearby fountain, but the subtitle “Escape From The Lost City” remains on a rock.

There’s still water running over the fountain and in the pool near the entrance.
At the other end of The Lost Continent is the abandoned Eighth Voyage of Sindbad theater. The show closed in 2018 but the set remains intact. The theater has used as a rest area and “Cool Zone” in the years since.
