The upcoming Muppets retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios continues as three new Notices of Commencement have been filed.
Electrical and Signage Permits Filed for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

All three permits were filed in Orange County today, January 30, 2026. Two are specifically for electrical work being done by Solotech and Elite A/V Producers, both companies that specialize in advanced show control systems for audio, video, and lighting.

The third is for Sign Producers Inc. and clearly states the permit is to “install signage,” so it’s most likely for exterior and interior sign work around and inside the attraction.

Previously, a Notice of Commencement to “install set elements” was filed on January 7, 2026, only a few weeks after another permit was filed for the same reason, but with Imagineering contractor Mecca Productions, who is also working on the Indiana Jones retheme of DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will close on March 2, 2026, with Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opening in Summer 2026. The ride’s pre-show has already been boarded up, so construction could begin while the ride remains open. The last day to ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is March 1.

In the Muppets version of the ride, Scooter’s uncle, J.P. Grosse, has purchased G-Force Records and signed Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Guests will go on a VIP tour, meet the Muppets (including Kermit and Miss Piggy), and race across town with the help of Muppet Labs to make it to the Electric Mayhem concert.
The re-theme follows the permanent closure of MuppetVision 3D to make way for a Monsters, Inc. land.

On January 27, Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton and his new band, Close Enemies, visited Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster before its imminent closure for one last ride on the Super Stretch Limo.

WDWNT is also saying goodbye to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith with the Sweet Emotional Farewell Tour this February. Get your tickets!
