A new video from Walt Disney Imagineering shares that an all-new scene from Pixar, plus even more ways to score points, are coming to the refurbished Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom.
New Pixar Animations in Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Earlier, we learned that the revamped Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will finally feature its titular character for the first time in the tunnel. Now we can see Buzz Lightyear in action in a new battle scene in the attraction animated specially by Pixar.
The new scene takes place in the “Hyperspace” tunnel, where Buzz is battling Emperor Zurg. As Zurg fires space mines at Buzz, guests can score additional points by shooting them.
Tasha Sounart, Creative Director of Theme Parks at Pixar and a former animator who worked on Toy Story 2, explained the challenge of animating a scene made for a tunnel. The animators had to create everything on a grid to ensure it would look normal when projected in the space.

The attraction has been closed since August for a major overhaul, which includes new vehicles, blasters, and targets. The reimagined ride will open in the spring of 2026.
