Walt Disney World Resort’s Cinderella Castle Suite

More exclusive than Club 33, Disney Vacation Club, and any other “secret” spot at Walt Disney World Resort is the elusive Cinderella Castle Suite. This hotel room is the dream of many Disney Parks fans. Beyond just a meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table, this is the chance to stay like royalty. But what is it, and how can one stay there? Is it really only available for the rich and famous?

What is the Cinderella Castle Suite?

Walt Disney World Resort's Cinderella Castle Suite

Cinderella Castle Suite, fittingly, is located inside Cinderella Castle. This suite sleeps up to six people and was created for the Year of a Million Dreams. This promotion took place from October 1, 2006, to December 31, 2008, when 307 one-night stays were given away. The suite has been sporadically used ever since. It cannot be booked through Disney, and presently, guests can only stay in it if they win a contest or are exclusively invited.

Many contests are held through donations for charities such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation or Give Kids the World.

Some celebrities have gotten the chance to stay there in the early years after the suite was created. Though clearly these stays are also now rarities. A few of the famous folks who have stayed here include:

  • Kevin Jonas & Danielle: Stayed in 2010 for their first anniversary
  • Tom Cruise & Suri: Stayed in 2012
  • Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon: Stayed in 2013
  • Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka: Stayed in 2013
  • Katy Perry: Stayed in 2014

And, despite rumors that Disney has been offered upwards of $40,000 for a night in the suite, it cannot be purchased. That makes this place even more special.

Before the Suite

Before the Cinderella Castle Suite was the ultimate Disney hotel stay, it wasn’t meant to be a hotel room at all. When Cinderella Castle was planned, the suite was included for the Disney family and executives to use. Unfortunately, Roy O. Disney passed away in 1971, not long after the opening of Disney World, and Walt Disney died in 1966 before construction on the castle even began. So the plan was ultimately scrapped, and the area was used for office and administrative space instead.

Inside the Suite

As you enter the suite, there is a mosaic on the floor depicting Cinderella’s carriage. This work contains over 30,000 tiles.

The interior of the suite is meticulously designed in a 17th-century French style, a nod to Cinderella’s homeland. Rich, dark wood details abound throughout the space, from the coffered ceiling to the bedframe and furniture. The two queen-sized beds feature Cinderella’s royal crest above the bed frame. And light trickles in from the stained glass windows beside the bed with crown motifs.

In the sitting area is a custom-made sofa that pulls out into a bed. The ceiling mural above the sitting area is adorned with bright blue patterns interspersed with images of bluebirds flying.

Limestone fireplace fashioned after a 17th Century Gothic fireplace in France

One of the most beautiful parts of the suite is the 17th-century Gothic-style limestone fireplace. It was modeled after an original wooden fireplace in France. The fireplace is outfitted with fiber optics to show a simulated fire.

Above the fireplace is an ornately framed image of Cinderella. However, this portrait is more than meets the eye as it is actually a television.

The soaking tub in the suite is surrounded on three sides by vibrant mosaics. The ones on the right and left sides show woodland creatures and colorful flowers. While the one in the middle depicts a path leading up to Cinderella’s Castle on a hill. Plus, the ceiling above the tub shows shimmering stars, as if you were bathing under a night sky.

Not only do guests have access to this incredible suite for their stay, but they also have a 24-hour concierge at their disposal. And since the suite clock never hits Midnight, they won’t have to worry about their suite turning back into a pumpkin.

World of Dreams VIP Tour

VIP tour guide takes a family of five towards the Ariel statue in Fantasyland

While guests can’t buy their way into the Cinderella Castle Suite, there was a brief time when they could purchase a tour. In 2019, Disney World launched a new VIP tour called World of Dreams. For $12,000, up to six guests could embark on the 12-hour-long tour. Not only did this tour include a tour of the suite, but it also included many other perks:

  • Backstage access and transportation
  • Front-of-the-line attraction access
  • Exclusive nighttime spectacular viewing areas
  • Three meals included with select alcohol
  • Access to any restaurant at Walt Disney World (no reservations needed)
  • and many more possibilities based on guest requests

We know it’s disappointing that you can’t actively plan a stay in the suite or even book the World of Dreams tour, which is no longer offered. But you never know what kind of magic can be dusted up when you wish upon a star…
