Barnstormer’s Guest-Damaged Queue Partially Repaired at Magic Kingdom

The guest-damaged queue of Barnstormer at Magic Kingdom has been partially repaired. There are still scratches, peeled paint, and more untouched areas throughout the coaster’s queue.

Partially Repaired: Before & After

The most visible damage was on and around the Wheel of Peril. This prop is near the merge point for standby and Lightning Lane, acting as a wall between the two. Pictured above is a before (left) and after (right).

The wooden wheel and its support structure still have some of the scratches and splotches. Some of those are intentional design decisions.

There are also scuff marks on the wheel, which still remain. The handles, however, have been replaced. You can see the before (left) and after (right) above.

The posts holding up the adjacent Wheel of Peril banner have also been repaired/replaced. The faux wood exteriors were completely stripped away in some areas, revealing the metal below.

What Remains to be Fixed

Unfortunately, other areas of the queue remain untouched since our last update earlier in February. Take a look at them below.

Large Sections of Barnstormer Queue at Magic Kingdom Heavily Damaged by Guests

This cannon, which is out of reach of guests, has some damage on the side of its base. Some of the red-painted wood has been stripped away. Much of the weathering on The Barnstormer is intentional but this appeared accidental.

Railings throughout the queue have been scratched up. This is mostly at toddler level, as you might expect. We also saw some dried gum stuck in a hole on a railing post. We did not see any updates to the railings in the queue today, February 27.

Near the loading area, more wood paint has been worn away from steel beams.

And there’s further damage to the painted partitions in the load area.

Hopefully Disney is able to complete some of the other repairs soon.

The Barnstormer at Goofy’s Wiseacre Farm opened as part of Mickey’s Toontown Fair in 1996. Originally styled as an airplane school run by Goofy, it was re-themed to the “Great Goofini” when the area became Storybook Circus in 2012.
