The Barnstormer at Magic Kingdom has seen better days. There are scratches, peeled paint, and faded shades throughout the coaster’s queue.

The Barnstormer Queue Damage

This cannon, which is out of reach of guests, appears to have damage on the side of its base. Some of the red-painted wood has been stripped away. Much of the weathering on The Barnstormer is intentional but this appeared accidental.

The most visible damage is on and around the Wheel of Peril. This prop is near the merge point for standby and Lightning Lane, acting as a wall between the two.

The wooden wheel and its support structure have scratches and splotches. There are scuff marks on the wheel. The handles are all worn from guests touching them.

The posts holding up the adjacent Wheel of Peril banner have seen even more wear and tear. The faux wood exteriors have been completely stripped away in some areas, revealing the metal below.

Railings throughout the queue have been scratched up. This is mostly at toddler level, as you might expect. We also saw some dried gum stuck in a hole on a railing post.

Someone else stuck their trash in this split cap of a post.

Near the loading area, more wood paint has been worn away from steel beams.

And there’s further damage to the painted partitions in the load area.

Sun-Bleached Shades

One thing that can’t be blamed on guests is the significant fading on some of the queue’s shades. The tops of the circular shades, which have stars and circles printed on them, are almost completely bleached white from the sun.

For comparison, in our above photo, you can see the white tops of some of the shades as well as the colorful undersides of others.

Ride Vehicles

When we boarded the ride, we noticed the trains are also worse for wear. There were bad scratches on our seat.

Some of the covering of the leg bar has also been peeled away (the cushion was still intact).

Hopefully Disney gives this ride some much-needed TLC soon.

The Barnstormer at Goofy’s Wiseacre Farm opened as part of Mickey’s Toontown Fair in 1996. Originally styled as an airplane school run by Goofy, it was re-themed to the “Great Goofini” when the area became Storybook Circus in 2012.
