Former Imagineer and Disney Legend Joe Rohde took to his Instagram to share that a big announcement is coming “probably Friday.”
Joe Rohde Teases “Creative Thing” that “A Lot of People will be Interested In”
Rohde posted the vague announcement on his Instagram on Wednesday, February 25:

Hello everybody. This is Joe Rohde. As you know, I am a creative guy.
And being a creative guy, I’m involved in a lot of creative things.
Now, one of those creative things, I’m going to be talking about later this week.
And I think a lot of people will be interested in it.
So I’m just giving you advanced warning to keep your ear to the ground, stay tuned.
I’ll let you know what this thing is, but I bet you by the end of the week, I will be announcing something cool that I am doing. And I’m hoping that other people will also think it’s cool. But of course, we must wait to see.

Rohde has been very active on his personal Instagram account lately, specifically sharing content related to the upcoming Tropical Americas land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In an Instagram post from February 6, he stated:
Up until the day of my retirement, my team and I tried for fifteen years to get a Tropical America land into this park and many such design attempts involved gutting DinoLand to do it.
He also recently shared an unnoticed detail in Tiffins in Animal Kingdom: on the wooden map on the wall, there is a Maya temple located in the Tropical Americas region. The new Indiana Jones ride within the Tropical Americas land will be set within a Maya temple, and the temple in the Tropical Americas concept art and model bears some resemblance to the temple on the Tiffins map.
This has led to speculation that his announcement may be related to the Tropical Americas project, and that he was brought in to consult or work with Imagineering. Rohde was officially inducted as an Imagineering Disney Legend in 2024.
