‘it’s a small world’ Reopens

The ride closed on January 26 for the removal of interior holiday decor and exterior lights. As of February 6, 2026 it has reopened for guest enjoyment.

The attraction will celebrate 60 years of its opening at Disneyland park on May 28th of this year.

The ride originally debuted at the 1964 New York World’s Fair and features the iconic Sherman Brothers song of the same name.

The final verse of the iconic song was added to the rides finale in honor of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary.

The “Happiest Cruise That Ever Sailed” is dedicated to children from around the world as it celebrates differences and world peace with almost 300 Audio-Animatronics dolls representing those children, including Disney characters added in 2009.

The classic figures were designed under art director Mary Blair, known for her unique style and visual aesthetic. Costumes were designed by Alice Davis and use traditional materials from each country.

The final scene celebrates all nations coming together with the sun shining down.

As the classic attraction comes to a close, post cards from each nation lead the guests back outside.
