New Villains Land Permit Features Changes to Upcoming Construction, But Doesn’t Substantiate Rumors

As rumors have swirled around changes to Villains Land at Walt Disney World this week, a new permit was found where a few differences can be noted.

It’s worth noting that the document doesn’t necessarily indicate that plans have changed, they may just be better defined than the previous permit.

On the left is the new permit, while the one filed at the end of January can be seen on the right. When it comes to the buildings, they appear to be in the same locations, with very minor differences in their overall footprints. The building closest to the Haunted Mansion now has a visible indent, while the possible large dark ride’s building to the north is ever-so-slightly bigger, as is the other show building. The smaller building behind the two is also seemingly slightly wider on one side.

The Piston Peak buildings largely remain the same, although the large rectangular building between the two lands is noticeably smaller and wider on this new permit.

While some erroneously believed the water lines had changed significantly, the utilities layout is for the Potable Water system, while the permit on the right was for the Wastewater system. No other significant changes can be noted with this permit when it comes to the water management.

Overall, it still seems unlikely that the rumored major changes have occurred.

Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced during Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event that a new Magic Kingdom land will be home to the Disney Villains we know and loathe from our favorite Walt Disney Animation Studios classic films — “Which means happily ever after may feel like just a distant dream.”

Disney described the land as a “place where poison apples are aplenty and magic potions can ruin your whole day.”

“The evil ambition of all these Villains means that the possibilities are endless for the stories that can be told — and visitors to the dark and thorny land should be prepared for whatever chaos might come their way.”

The new land will include two major attractions, dining, and shopping on an incredibly twisted grand scale.

“Be prepared, you poor unfortunate souls,” D’Amaro teased. “It’s going to be a fearless new vision for what a Disney experience can be.”

Preparation is well underway on the Disney Villains land, which will be the first new Magic Kingdom land since Mickey’s Birthdayland (later renamed Mickey’s Toontown) opened in 1988.
