Walt Disney Imagineering filed two permits for new signage at Animation Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The courtyard is being reimagined into the Walt Disney Studios lot.
Animation Courtyard Permits
Both permits contract Design Communications Ltd. to “Install Signage.” One permit is for 755 Stage Ln, the address of the soundstage housing The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure. The show will remain but the soundstage will be renamed Studio Theater. The permit is likely for the “Studio Theater” lettering seen on the marquee in the cropped concept art above.
The second permit is for 561 Stage Ln, the former site of the Disney’s Hollywood Studios archway. The archway was demolished soon after the courtyard closed. Concept art indicates a new “The Walt Disney Studios” sign will be installed in a flower bed where the archway used to be.
The Magic of Disney Animation

Imagineering also recently filed a permit for The Magic of Disney Animation signage. The Magic of Disney Animation is returning as a new attraction, replacing Star Wars: Launch Bay, as a “place where kids and kids at heart can laugh, draw, dream, and explore animated new experiences.”
Partially inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Emmy Award-winning short film Once Upon A Studio, the experience will include meet and greets, an Alice in Wonderland playground, and a drawing class.
Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! will replace Disney Junior Dance Party in the courtyard’s second soundstage. The show premiered last year at Disney California Adventure. Inspired by Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+, it features Mickey and Minnie searching for their friends so they can party together.
