The playground in the World Discovery neighborhood of EPCOT is getting new shades as part of an ongoing refurbishment. The space has been fully closed since mid January, although construction walls went up next to the playground back in November.
World Discovery Playground Refurbishment
The playground is blocked by rolling planters, but over those planters, we could see three brand-new fabric shade structures. They look kind of like large umbrellas, but taller.
The fabric shades are dark blue. They replace two metal triangle elements that were previously on the jungle gym.
A third triangle is still visible in the background.

The new shades should provide a little bit more protection from the sun.
